13-year-old in Critical Condition After Accidental Shooting

A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition at the hospital, after being shot in an apartment in Covington, Kentucky. Ryan Cupp, age 18, has been charged in the shooting, claiming it was accidental, and the victim was like a “little brother” to him. Multiple witness said they saw Cupp and the victim playing with guns in the kitchen; one reported that Cupp pointed a gun at the victim that went off, striking the boy in the head.

After the shooting, Cupp told someone to get rid of the guns and fled the scene. Police later found a black and gold Sig Sauer and a black Ruger in the backyard of the apartment. Cupp eventually turned himself in to police and has been charged with first-degree assault.
