Fifteen-year-old Dies While Hunting Turkeys

A fifteen-year-old boy who was turkey hunting in Perquimans County, North Carolina accidentally fired his rifle and shot and killed himself today. According to a spokesperson for the Wildlife Resources Commission, “[t]he 17-year-old stood up to look across a field with binoculars, and while he was standing, he heard the 15-year-old’s gun shoot.”  A preliminary investigation showed that the 15-year-old had been trying to stand up when his shotgun accidentally fired.

This is the second report of a turkey hunting accident in three days.
