 Gun accidents occurred all over the country today.

In Henrico, Virginia, a 7-year old found his father’s loaded gun and shot himself.  His injuries are not considered life-threatening.  The boy’s father, Landin Lewis, Sr., was arrested and charged with allowing his son to access the gun.

In Somerville, Massachusetts, a police officer shot himself while his gun was holstered.  He is expected to make a full recovery.  The officer’s name was not released, though there is an internal investigation.

In Fresno, California, a ten-year old girl was shot on the playground when a gun was fired during a nearby argument.  She was struck in a femoral artery and there is no report of her condition.

In Nashville, Tennessee, Jamandas Mayberry, a 19-year old, was arrested and charged with homicide after Arondai Thompson was shot in the leg while the two were reportedly passing guns around in a car.  Thompson later died at the hospital. Mayberry was arrested after fleeing the scene in another vehicle.

Finally, In Burkburnett, Texas, in the second fatal gun accident in less than four months, Jacob Emro shot and killed Zachary Robertson, purportedly while playing a prank in an effort to scare Robertson.  Both men were 21.  Emro was arrested and charged with manslaughter after allegedly attempting to hide evidence.
