Two women were severely injured today when men they were with mishandled guns. 

An 18-year old Danville, Illinois woman is in stable condition after she was accidentally shot in the chest by her 16-year old boyfriend who mishandled a handgun. The boyfriend was taken into custody on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a person under 21 years old.  Police are investigating how a 16-year old was in possession of a gun.  Notably, a similar incident occurred yesterday in Minooka, Illinois, where a man dropped a gun and a woman was struck.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, a man mishandled a gun and struck a woman in the shoulder, collapsing a lung.  The man was “demonstrating how to clear a weapon and he demonstrated wrong,” a Raleigh police officer said. Charges are likely.
