In an incident in Craigsville, Virginia, a 14-year old girl was accidentally shot in the hip during an altercation.  The girl was attending a party where a fight broke out.  One of the participants fired a warning shot into the ground.  A bullet fragment ricocheted and struck the 14-year old.

The man who fired the shot was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm, a misdemeanor.  Another man was arrested for public intoxication.

The girl was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where she remained at the time of the news report.
