Three People Injured as Innocent Bystanders

A 12-year-old boy was was shot sitting on a couch in his home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He and his two brothers were home alone, when the brothers found one of their parent’s handgun and were playing with it another room when it fired. The 12-year-old was shot in the back and taken to the hospital for surgery. His is stable condition. Prosecutors will determine if the children’s parents will be charged.

A woman was shot in a Walmart in Valdosta, Georgia, after John Eady, age 21, reached for his cell phone and accidentally discharged the gun he had in the same pocket. The victim was hit in the ankles by shrapnel from the bullet and tiles from the flooring, and was treated for her non-life-threatening injuries. Eady was charged with reckless conduct.

In a Bloomington, Indiana apartment, the Canik 9 mm pistol that 21-year-old Kaleb Ford was dissembling unintentionally fired, sending a bullet through the wall and striking a 24-year-old woman in the neighboring apartment. Police found evidence of the shooting during their investigation and ultimately determined that Ford was responsible. He was arrested on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness.
