State Trooper Injured by Unintentional Discharge of Service Weapon
A state trooper was injured in what “preliminarily appears to be an accidental discharge of his service weapon,” at a mounted unit barn in Acton, Massachusetts. The trooper was treated at the hospital and released.
His standard issue duty weapon was a Sig Sauer P320; a firearm that has prompted many lawsuits over the years alleging that it can fire without a trigger pull. From a statement by police, “[t]he Massachusetts State Police thoroughly investigates any incident where a firearm discharges. That process is well underway in this case and will determine the facts.” The trooper is on administrative leave per department policy, as the investigation into the incident continues.
