15-year-old Innocent Bystander Injured in National Mall Shooting

A 15-year-old boy got caught in the gunfire between Secret Service agents and 45-year-old Michal Marx near the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. The boy is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if Marx, or the agents, shot the boy. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The incident began when agents approached Marx “who appeared to be carrying a weapon.” He ran off, fired at them, and the agents fired back. He was wounded and taken to the hospital with multiple injuries. The U.S. attorney for DC said that he would be charged with assault on a federal officer and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
