Owner Injured After Dog Causes Gun to Fire

In his home in Shillington, Pennsylvania, a 53-year-old man was shot in the back after his dog jumped on a bed causing a shotgun to discharge. The victim had set the gun down on the bed while he was cleaning it. “He’s not sure what stage of cleaning he was in at the time, so it’s unsure if the dog’s paw may have gotten caught inside the trigger and the safety was off, or if there was some sort of manufacturer malfunction,” said a police spokesperson. The man is recovering after surgery, and police continue to investigate.
