Two People in Florida Injured in Unintentional Shootings

A 12-year-old boy unintentionally shot himself in the head in Homestead, Florida. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition, but is expected to fully recover. It has not been determined who owned the gun, or how the boy got access to it. No one has been charged in connection with the incident.

And in Bunnell, Florida, a man was mistaken for a turkey and accidentally shot in the head and torso with bird shot. He was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment. John Bennett, Sr., told police that after tracking some female turkeys, he shot at a decoy that he thought was a male. He soon realized his mistake and heard someone yell that they had been shot. There is an ongoing investigation into the shooting.
