Indiana Two-year-old Shoots and Kills Himself After Finding Loaded Gun

Jarel Miles

Jarel Miles, an Indianapolis, Indiana two-year-old, shot and killed himself with a loaded gun he found at home. Police are investigating to determine if charges should be filed.

“This is 100% preventable,” the Police Chief said. “We’ve been preaching it over and over again, if you’re a gun owner, you have a responsibility to make sure guns don’t fall into the hands of our youth, our kids, the ones that don’t know any better.”

”I don’t think the average American knows that firearms are the leading cause of death of kids in our country,” said the Coordinator of the county’s Youth Violence Prevention Coalition. ”Locking up a firearm is not a high bar if you’re gonna have a firearm in your home and you have children.”

Approximately two dozen Indianapolis children died of gunshot wounds last year.
