Self-Inflicted, Accidental Shootings Injure Two Men

An investigation is under way after a police officer in Bronx, New York, accidentally shot himself in a public housing project. He was patrolling one of the buildings when his gun fired into his leg. He is expected to recover.

A man tried to run from police in San Diego, California, when he accidentally shot himself with an unregistered gun he had on him. The man was the passenger of an illegally parked car, and when officers approached the vehicle he fled. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
