Three People Killed in Gun Accidents, Including a Two-year-old
In Erie, Pennsylvania, an 18-year-old was unintentionally shot and killed while making a video with two other teens. Each of the three had a gun which they pointed at the camera during filming. One of the guns fired, hitting the 18-year-old in the neck, killing him. The video and statements from witnesses were evidence police used to charge Shemek S. Clements, 17, with aggravated assault, and involuntary manslaughter.
A 2-year-old girl in an apartment in Hampton, Virginia, found an unsecured, loaded gun and shot and killed herself. Detectives haven’t shared who was at home with the toddler or how she got the gun. This is an ongoing investigation, and it’s unclear if any charges will be filed.
And a 62-year-old man in Tuscarawas, Ohio, was killed when a handgun he was cleaning accidentally discharged striking him in the chest. He died at the scene. Little information was reported as authorities continue to investigate.
