One Dead, Four Wounded in Accidental Shootings

A 5-year-old boy in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, shot himself in the hand while playing with a gun. Police said one parent was home during the incident, but did not say who owned the gun. There is an ongoing investigation, and so far no charges have been filed.

Ari T. Miller, 41, accidentally shot her boyfriend in a casino parking lot in Des Plaines, Illinois. Miller, her brother, and her 47-year-old boyfriend where in Miller’s car drinking alcohol and listening to music. Miller was in the passenger seat and her boyfriend was driving. When they were getting ready to leave the vehicle, Miller tried to transfer her loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm from her purse to the center console, when the gun unintentionally fired striking her boyfriend in the thigh. Miller has been charged with reckless conduct and possession of a concealed firearm under the influence of alcohol.

Few details have been reported in the accidental shooting death of Juquashia Rhodes in Sparta, Georgia. Officers have detained a man, but no charges have been filed, as the incident continues be investigated.

In Lauderhill, Florida, police responded to two separate calls regarding juvenile males being shot in the hand. Further investigation revealed that both boys, ages 15 and 16, were playing with a firearm when it accidentally fired a single shot that injured both of them. They are in stable condition and no charges have been filed. Police are investigating.
