Five-year-old Killed in Drive-by Shooting, and Six-year-old Shoots Own Hand with Unsecured Gun

During a drive-by shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, someone shot into a residence fatally striking five-year-old Galilea Samaniego who was spending the night. She did not live at the home and police say she was not the intended target. Police recovered two cars that could be connected to the incident and are aware of people who may have information that can help detectives during their investigation.

In Kewanee, Illinois, a six-year-old child found a loaded, unsecured gun and shot themself in the hand. Police are gathering evidence from the home as they continue to investigate the incident.
