10-year-old Boy Attending Summer Camp, and Two Other People Hurt in Unintentional Shootings

In Knoxville, Tennessee, a 10-year-old boy was shot and critically injured while attending summer camp in the gym of a local YWCA. A gun inside a 14-year-old’s backpack accidentally discharged striking the boy. The 14-year-old left the scene but was detained by police a few blocks away. Two handguns were found in the backpack. The teen now faces charges in juvenile court of reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a gun with possible other charges to come.

Police responded to a call in Kalamazoo, Michigan and found an injured 18-year-old. The teen told police about being accidentally shot by an acquaintance. The injury was not life-threatening and police are investigating the incident.

Sierra King, 36, is listed in stable condition at the hospital after being wounded in an accidental shooting inside a vehicle in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Police are investigating.
