Child Death (18 and Under) Child Under 18 (as Shooter) Juvenile Arrested North Carolina

THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 2023

Craig Curtis,  a Raleigh, North Carolina teenager, was shot and killed today.  Police have charged another teenager with involuntary manslaughter and Curtis’s brother says the incident was an accident.  However, the circumstances of this unintended shooting incident have not been released.

“A gun is not the answer to everything,” Curtis’s great-aunt said at a vigil in his honor. “But you sit there and use guns, you can’t live another day. I shouldn’t be burying my great-nephew. It’s not right. It’s not right, I’m tired of burying my family.”

The local NAACP president said, “[w]here we stand right now with teens and gun violence is trying to get them to understand to slow down. You do not want to pull out a firearm and have 30 seconds change the rest of your life forever — and also to change somebody else’s family’s life forever.”
