Adult Arrested Child Death (18 and Under) Child Under 18 (as Shooter) Georgia Juvenile Arrested Michigan Ongoing Investigation Tennessee

MONDAY, AUGUST 22, 2022

A Stone Mountain, Georgia 17-year old, Dimitri Hayes, was accidentally shot by his twin brother, Xavier, when the two were playing with a gun in their bedroom. Dimitri was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Xavier was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.  There is no report at this time about how the boys got the gun or whether their parents will be charged.

In Detroit, Michigan, Carlin McDaniel, age 5, found a loaded handgun in his home and accidentally shot himself in the face.  He too was taken to the hospital where he later died. The gun belonged to the boy’s uncle, Keon Pritchett, 29, who was home with Carlin and Carlin’s brother when the accident occurred. Pritchett was formally charged with five counts including “felon in possession of a firearm.”

And Abiel Euceda, a 13-year old Antioch, Tennessee boy, died in a wooded area of an accidental gunshot wound.  Another boy, who is 16, was with the Euceda and stayed on the scene and rendered aid, police said. Euceda was shot once and died at the scene.
