A six-year old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania apparently found a gun is his home and accidentally shot himself in the head. He is hospitalized in critical condition.

And in separate incidents, two Pullman, Washington men accidentally shot themselves and had to be airlifted to the hospital in Spokane. One of the men shot himself in the leg while cleaning and disassembling his gun.  The other shot himself in the abdomen with a handgun.

Less than two weeks ago, on May 6, a Pullman college student died in after accidentally shooting himself.   

“Firearm safety is something that’s very critical for law enforcement officers as well as the general public because many people in America possess a firearm,” the lead firearms instructor for the Pullman police department said. “There’s more people that do than don’t. So having good firearm safety practices is very, very necessary.”
