Three children found loaded guns in their homes today and injured themselves, two of them in Baton Rouge Louisiana. The two incidents make three accidental shootings in Baton Rouge in just two days.

Deetroy Watkins, 26, of Baton Rouge was arrested after he left his gun in a couch cushion.  His three-year old son found the gun and shot himself in the head. Watkins was charged with “negligent injuring and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.”  The boy is in stable condition at the hospital.

Also in Baton Rouge, a boy playing with a gun he found at home shot himself in the leg.  After telling the sheriff’s office that there had been a drive-by shooting, he admitted what had happened.  His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

In Richmond, Virginia, a seven-year old boy has life-threatening injuries after shooting himself with a gun he found at home. Other family members were at home at the time of the incident, but there is no report that anyone has been charged.
