In Eastover, South Carolina, a 12-year old boy was showing a friend a gun that he found in his home when he shot himself in the upper body.  The boy was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the wound.

Police say two 12-year old boys were home alone at the time of the accident.  South Carolina does not have a law requiring parents and caregivers to prevent children from gaining access to their guns.

This is the sixth report here of children shooting themselves or others with a gun found in their home in the last four days.
