In Evansville, Indiana, nine month old Iowa Meriweather was accidentally shot in the face and killed by her father.  At the time of the shooting, the girl’s father was handling a friend’s gun that he had found in a couch while his friend was out of the room. 

The situation was initially complicated because the shooter, Anthony Lamont Meriweather, and his friend initially reported a story about a drive-by shooting to cover up the gun accident.  Mr. Meriweather has been arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a felony.
