Alabama Child Injury (18 and Under) No Charges Filed Ongoing Investigation Tennessee

FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 2020

Two young boys were shot today in separate gun accidents.  A teenage boy accidentally shot himself in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police are investigating.  The boy is at a local hospital in unknown condition.

In Covington County, Alabama, a “juvenile” was shot and flown to a Florida hospital in stable condition after playing with a gun he and another boy found in a relative’s home.  The County Sheriff said, “the gun cycled four times and fired on the fourth shot, striking one of the juveniles in the torso.”  Investigators say “the gun was very old and loaded with seven soft-point rounds and one rat shot. They say the hammer struck three of the rounds but they did not detonate. The fourth round was the rat shot and fired.”   No one will be charged, because investigators concluded that the gun had been stored “with the necessary precaution.”
