Toddlers Injured in Two Separate Gun Accidents
In Columbus, Ohio, a one-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital and is expected to be OK, after he shot himself in the foot with his father’s gun. Kejuan Harris, age 24, told police that he fell asleep with the gun underneath him; his son got a hold of it, causing it to discharge. Harris also admitted that he hid the gun in the backyard after the shooting. He was arrested, and charged with negligent assault and tampering with evidence.
And in an apartment in Beaumont, Texas, a two-year-old was injured after his 17-year-old brother, Javon Jean, accidentally fired a gun. Jean took his brother to the hospital, and left before talking to police and remains at large. The toddler was later airlifted to another facility for further treatment. Jean faces a warrant for aggravated assault.
