Parents Charged After Children Shoot Themselves; Toddler Killed, Six-year-old Wounded

In a Florissant, Missouri home, 27-year-old Jordan L. Burns left a gun accessible to his three-year-old son, who found it and shot himself in the head. Burns had been drinking, and was the only adult at home with the child when the accident occurred. The toddler died at the hospital. Burns was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of child resulting in death.

And in a home in Miami, Florida, a six-year-old boy shot himself in the shoulder with his mother’s gun. The boy was airlifted to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in good condition. His 33-year-old mother, Myeisha Sharie Smith, was charged with child neglect with great bodily harm.
