10-year-old Shot and Killed in Vehicle

In a vehicle in the parking lot of a convenience store in Augusta, Georgia, a child fatally shot 10-year-old De’Angelo Roberson in the head. De’Angelo’s mother, 27-year-old Deasia Lexus Williams, admitted to deputies that she went inside the store leaving three children, ages 4 to 10, in the car with a purse that contained the gun, a black Ruger LCP .380 handgun. De’Angelo was pronounced dead at the hospital a few days later. Williams was arrested and charged with murder in the second degree and cruelty to children.

In a Facebook tribute by his elementary school, De’Angelo is called a “beloved student.” An autopsy has been scheduled, and the department of family and children services has been notified.
