Woman Killed, Husband Injured, in Gun Cleaning Accident

A deadly gun cleaning accident inside a home in Channelview, Texas, killed a 24-year-old woman and injured her 25-year-old husband. 

The man and his brother were in sitting at a table in the kitchen, dissembling and reassembling guns during the cleaning process. At some point the man’s firearm fired, striking his hand, then hitting his wife in the upper torso. She was pronounced dead at the hospital; her husband was treated and released. Seven adults and three children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. The incident will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
