Man Killed While Filming Friend Playing with Gun

Dylan Miller-Mettome

In West Jordan, Utah, Dylan Douglas Miller-Mettome, 27, was accidentally shot and killed by his best friend, 29-year-old Anthony Sanchez. Miller-Mettome had started to record Sanchez on his phone, when Sanchez “pulled his gun out to be funny, not knowing it was loaded,” pointed it at Miller-Mettome, and unintentionally shot him in the chest. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died there.

Police found a .45 Glock handgun at the scene, and Sanchez has been charged on multiple counts including negligent homicide.

Miller-Mettome was the father of a six-month-old daughter and loved playing softball. He made lifelong friends, and one who knew him since he was born said, “[h]e was just the most genuine, funniest person I’ve ever met.” Another added, “[h]e cherished every single person that he had ever come in contact with….that’s how everyone will remember him.”
