Toddler Killed and Teen Injured After Shooting Themselves with Unsecured Guns

Investigators believe that a 3-year-old boy in a Charlotte, North Carolina apartment, died after shooting himself in the head with his mother’s unsecured gun. The child was at home with his mother and was rushed to the hospital after the shooting but died a short time later. Charges are pending in this ongoing investigation.

And in Overpeck, Ohio, a 13-year-old boy was playing with a gun in his bedroom. He didn’t know it was loaded when it unintentionally discharged, shooting him the face. He is expected to recover. The incident report states that deputies found a .38 mm S&W Revolver on the bed in the teen’s bedroom with a spent .38 round in the chamber and a loose bullet on the bed. Two other guns were located there, and all three were seized and taken to the sheriff’s office property room.
