Two People Injured in Accidental Shooting

In an apartment complex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, two people were injured after being accidentally shot. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover. Police determined it was an accident, but few other details have been reported.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 15, 2023 – Unintentional Shootings Involving Two Children and Two Adults

In Goldsboro, North Carolina, a seven-year-old child was shot by an eight-year-old relative, but is expected to recover. There has been no report about how the children got the gun.

Michael Howard-Owens of Chicago, Illinois, was in bed with his girlfriend and her three-year old son, when his gun, which was in his waistband, accidentally disc harged. The round passed through the boy’s foot and then into his own leg. Howard-Owens initially claimed that they were shot by a third person, before acknowledging the accident. Saying the allegations are “absolutely, positively shocking to the conscience,” a local judge ordered Howard-Owens to pay a $35,000 bail deposit. The Judge may not be aware that is common for American gunowners to sleep with their guns.

And in North Bloomfield, Ohio, a 44-year-old man shot himself in the knee with a 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol. No further details about the circumstances of the accident were published.
