Two Dead, Two Injured, in Accidental Shootings

A 7-year-old child shot a 5-year-old child inside a home in McKee, Kentucky today. The child died at the scene.  Police said in a statement that the shooting was “accidental,” but no further information has been reported.

In Gloversville, New York, Dante Edwards-Morrison, age 30, was killed accidentally while struggling over a gun with his father.  According to the report, Edwards-Morrison, who is the son of a local Judge, was distraught over longstanding problems with the mother of his children. He apparently took the gun to her home intent on domestic violence and his father followed him to defuse the situation. Edwards-Morrison and his father apparently struggled over the gun inside a vehicle and a shot was unintentionally fired that resulted in Edwards-Morrison’s death. “It’s a quiet neighborhood,” said a neighbor. “There’s usually not a lot of crime or violence that takes place here. But it goes to show you that this type of thing can happen anywhere.”

And, in Rush County, Indiana, two coyote hunters were accidentally shot and injured. They were apparently struck by rounds fired by another hunter. Both men are now hospitalized in stable condition, one after being airlifted to the hospital.
