11-year-old Struck in Head by Bullet Fired Outside Her Home

In Cincinnati, Ohio, Jaliah Williams, an 11-year-old girl, was struck in the head by a bullet apparently fired outside her home. Police reports say Jaliah and her brother were playing a game in a bedroom when she was shot.  Arriving officers found her lying on her back, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, being administered CPR by someone inside the apartment. Jaliah underwent emergency surgery to remove some of her skull and the damaged parts of her brain.

“My older daughter called me screaming about 10:45 and she kept saying, ‘My sister’s dead, my sister’s dead.’ And I’m like, what are you saying?” she recalled. “She was like, ‘Mommy, Jaliah’s dead.’ I’m like, ‘why are you saying that?’ She said, ‘because I’m looking at her.’ I’m like, ‘what happened?’ She was like, ‘she got shot in her head.’”

Four people have been taken in for questioning, but no arrests have been reported.
