One Person Dead, Seven Wounded, in Unintentional Shootings Today

In Plano, Texas, a three-year-old was hospitalized with an accidental gunshot wound.  The circumstances of the accident were not reported.

Deonte’ Thomas of Emporia, Virginia was arrested for reckless handling of a firearm after he unintentionally shot a 13-year-old boy in the head.  The boy was flown to a hospital due to the severity of his injuries. He is reported to be in stable condition.

In East Ridge, Tennessee, a 16-year-old boy accidentally shot himself. Police are investigating where he got the gun.

A Boone, North Carolina man told police that he accidentally shot himself while driving, apparently leading to a rollover accident. The man was airlifted to a local medical center and there is an ongoing investigation.

 A Newark, New Jersey teenager unintentionally shot himself while fleeing from police who were investigating a car theft. He was on foot at the time of the incident.

In East St. Louis, Missouri, an 11-year-old boy was shot inside his home when women outside opened fire outside during a dispute about the return of some clothing.  One of the rounds penetrated the wall of the home and struck the boy inside. The child was rushed to the hospital and his condition has not been reported.

Jose Martinez, 19, and Kinslee Ingram, 18, of Nacogdoches, Texas were both injured in an accidental shooting that occurred while Martinez was handling a gun. Martinez drove Ingram to the hospital where they gave a false story to police. Martinez was later arrested for deadly conduct and tampering with physical evidence.

And in Virginia Beach, Virginia, police announced that a woman was killed in a gun accident. No further details have been reported. There is an ongoing investigation.
