Woman Injured by Her Father Demonstrating How to Use a Gun Safely

In Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, a man accidentally shot his adult daughter while giving her lessons in gun safety.  “If you are going to use them, you should do it at a gun range, not in your own home,” the local Police Superintendent said in a report. “Make sure these guns are not loaded when you have them in the house or are handling them… If you’re going to buy a gun for safety, take the safety class. Be aware of how they work and how they function.”

This incident is similar to one yesterday in which a Texas woman was killed by a man showing her how to use a gun safely. However, today’s victim is expected to survive.

A fourteen-year-old Erie, Pennsylvania boy was unintentionally shot in the thigh while he and some friends were making music video with a gun.  The story is silent about where the children got the gun other than to say that the gun was legally owned by a family member of one of the teens.

And in Shreveport, Louisiana, the site of frequent unintentional shootings involving children, a five-year-old who found a gun in his home shot his nine-year-old sister in the abdomen and arm. Again, no word on how the children got access to a loaded gun.
