In Kingsport, Tennessee, a man “negligently” shot himself in the hand, and then told police that someone else had fired the shot before fleeing the scene.  The bullet, after passing though the man’s hand, also struck and injured a second individual.

The incident prompted several school lockdowns as well as a pointless police investigation to find the third-party shooter.  Arrest have been made on unspecified charges, presumably related to the false report.
