In Wynne, Arkansas, a 10-year old was shot by his 13-year old brother in their home with an unsecured gun.  The younger boy was found “bleeding profusely” from a chest wound and was taken the Memphis for treatment.

Local police said the shooting appeared to be a “heartbreaking accident.”  The police chief added, “[i]f your kids are going to be involved with guns I think you need to teach them the safety portion of that firearm, whether it be a hunting rifle, shotgun, a pistol, or whatever.”

“First thing is you need to secure whatever firearm you own,  whether you invest in a gun safe or some type of locking device so something of this nature does not happen.” The news release concluded by encouraging everyone to respect the family’s privacy and to “pray for healing for the victim, the family, and the community in this time of need”.
