Back in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where gun accidents involving children appear common, two children found a loaded gun in their home.  A four-year old was shot and injured, but is in stable condition at the hospital.  The children’s uncle, Kiante Hawkins, was arrested and charged with negligence. Police determined that he had left the gun unattended in a place where the children could find it.

Also today, a two-year old Orlando, Florida boy shot his father with a gun he found in his home. The man, Reggie Mabry, was playing was playing video games on his computer at the time of the accident. The boy’s mother, Marie Rose Ayala, has been arrested and charged with negligent manslaughter. “Ayala acknowledged that the firearm, a Glock handgun, was typically stored in a backpack that hung on a nail about three feet off the ground,” the affidavit states.
