In Atlanta, Georgia, a one-year old who was left alone with her pre-school age brother and a loaded gun was accidentally shot.  She is in critical condition at the hospital.

A police lieutenant said though it was “a tragic accident,” charges could be filed. “Please put guns away. This is now the second time in the past couple of months that we’ve responded to a scene in which a child has been shot, there was a weapon present inside of the residence,” he added. 

Also today, two men were transferring weapons from one vehicle to another in a Food Lion parking lot in Amherst, Virginia, when one of them was accidentally shot.  That person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
