Adult Injury Child Under 18 (as Shooter) Indiana Ongoing Investigation

FRIDAY, JANUARY 8, 2021

In Fort Wayne, Indiana, a toddler found a gun and used it to shoot his mother. Her injuries are not considered life threatening, but local police are investigating “possible child neglect.”  No other information is available.

The incident is one of many recent incidents in Indiana in which young children have been involved in serious gun accidents.  It is reminiscent of an accident last November in Danville, Indiana in which a 2-year old found a semi-automatic pistol and shot his mother.  In that incident, he toddler’s five-year old brother called their grandmother, who then called 911.  At that time, police said the shooting “appears to have been an accident.”
