Adult Death Montana No Charges Filed

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2020

In Hamilton, Montana, 51-year old Steve Burgess died when a rifle accidentally discharged inside a vehicle.  Burgess was on a hunting trip at the time of the accident. 

His companions drove to meet responders, but Burgess was pronounced dead at the scene.  “The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office offers condolences to the families affected by this tragic accident and asks the community to come together to offer support,” said a sheriff’s press release. “The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office would also stress that firearms safety rules can never be relaxed. Always unload firearms before transporting them and control the muzzle at all times.”
