MONDAY, MAY 11, 2020

Griffin, Georgia police announced today that a 5-year old boy and his brothers found a loaded gun in the woods near their home.  The boy, believing the gun was a toy, discharged it and shot his 12-year old brother in the chest.  The 12-year old died at the hospital.

Evidence suggests that the gun was discarded by a suspect during a police chase that began with a traffic stop.  “Griffin police said that the Department’s heart goes out to the family in its time of loss, and that the GPD plans to find and charge those who discarded the loaded gun in an area accessible to children.”
