Adult Arrested Child Death (18 and Under) Pennsylvania

MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2020

A four-year old girl, Kastari Nunez, was accidentally shot and killed in Northeast Philadelphia today.  According to the report, a “.357 revolver with five live rounds and one spent cartridge casing was found on a living room sofa.”

Police ultimately charged three adults who were present in the home at the time of the accident.  The most serious charges were brought against the girl’s father, Alhakim Nunez.  He faces charges including involuntary manslaughter, a second-degree felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, upgraded to a first-degree felony because the child who was killed was under the age of 12.

“The killing of Kastari Nunez was unintended,” according to an Assistant District Attorney. “However, it was not in any way, shape or form accidental because the shooting death resulted from a handgun which should have never been in the home of the father.”
