Man Shot Himself Filming Video With New Gun

In the parking lot of the sporting goods store in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he had earlier purchased a 9 mm pistol, a 21-year-old man shot himself in the leg while filming a video demonstrating how to rack the gun. His girlfriend was filming him when the gun unintentionally fired, severing his femoral artery. First responders applied a tourniquet before taking him to the hospital for surgery. He was reported to be in critical, but stable condition.

After the shooting, a witness described the scene. “I looked over and the two doors on the left side of the car were open and there was a big pile of blood beside the driver’s car door. So I figured I didn’t know what happened, but it didn’t look like it was very good.” The shooting is under investigation, and so far no one has been charged.
