Three Children Injured in Gun Accidents Today

An eight-year-old boy is in stable condition after he was shot in the face in a home in St. Louis, Missouri. Police believe that several children and teens were playing with a gun when it unintentionally discharged. A parent was reportedly upstairs during the incident. After the shooting, a 12-year-old boy left the home with a handgun that was later found in the backyard. He was taken into custody. There is an ongoing investigation to determine the full circumstances of the shooting.

A three-year-old was airlifted to the hospital after being accidentally shot in the arm by a teenager in Mims, Florida. He is expected to recover. The 14-year-old shooter was apparently putting a gun away when it unintentionally fired. The sheriff’s office said there could be an issue with the 14-year-old, but so far no one has been charged in the ongoing investigation.

And in Mount Vernon, Iowa, a ten-year-old boy sustained several small wounds on his back and head after he was shot with a rifle that was approximately 90 feet from him. He should be released from the hospital soon. Kevin Gouchee, age 62, admitted to officials that he fired the rifle, and claimed that he was shooting at a groundhog. The boy was behind a row of bushes, fishing alone on the river when he was shot. Gouchee was charged with reckless use of a firearm resulting in bodily injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.
