At a gated community in the Bronx, New York, Noble Grant, an eight-year old boy, retrieved a gun from a gun safe in his father’s closet and accidentally shot himself in the back of the head.  It is unclear whether the safe was locked at the time the boy obtained the gun.

According to a report, the boy is “fighting for his life.” A neighbor said, “emergency workers were able to get the boy breathing,” and “brought him back to life” before he was taken to the hospital.

The shooting happened near Fordham University in a gated community billed as an “Oasis in the Bronx.”  The boy’s father, Rajon Grant, a nightclub owner, was reportedly charged with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
