Four-year-old Child Injured in Gun Cleaning Accident
A gun discharged while 22-year-old Travon Prater was cleaning it, injuring a four-year-old child in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The child was airlifted to the hospital for surgery; their current condition was not reported. Prater told police he was reassembling a Glock 17, and it “went off” when he inserted the magazine. Officers recovered the gun, and found weapons and drug-related items around the home. Prater faces multiple charges, including injury by negligent handling of a dangerous weapons, and child neglect causing great bodily harm.
