Teen and Officer Injured in Gun Accidents
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the stomach in a home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and taken to the hospital in stable condition. Officials say that at least 15 people, mostly teenagers, were inside the home at the time of the incident, and a group of teens were handling a gun when it discharged. “We’re being told that the shooter was also about 14 years of age, and he fled from the property after the shot was fired,” said the police chief inspector. There is an ongoing investigation to locate the firearm and determine who owned it.
And at a firearm safety training facility in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, an officer with Homeland Security accidentally shot themself in the leg during a training exercise. The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment. Their current condition and the circumstances of the shooting were not reported.
