Five People Injured in Unintentional Shootings
A 19-year-old was accidentally shot in the shoulder in a motel in Fairborn, Ohio. A witness told police that Jacob Adkins and the victim were “messing around with the gun” before it fired. And according to Adkins, he believed the gun discharged because it hit a desk as he was handing it to the victim. The victim is in stable but critical condition at the hospital, and Adkins has been charged with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon.
A person was accidentally shot by someone else in a convenience store in Rushville, Missouri. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police continue to investigate, and no charges have been filed at this time.

In Evansville, Indiana, one person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after accidentally shooting themself. There is an ongoing investigation.
In Jackson, Tennessee, a person was airlifted to the hospital for treatment after unintentionally shooting themself. No other details have been reported.
And in Rochester, New York, a 57-year-old man accidentally shot himself and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police found a loaded .25 handgun in a tire in an alley where the shooting occurred. The man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
