High School Sophomore Accidentally Shot and Killed

Shawn Cooper, Jr., an 18-year-old sophomore at the local high school in Tallahassee, Florida, was unintentionally shot and killed while sitting on the front porch of a house. Immanuel Grant-Hayes, 17, was sitting nearby with other people, and was handling a gun that accidentally discharged, killing Cooper. Grant-Hayes fled the scene, but was identified later during the investigation and charged with manslaughter. The state attorney said, “…[W]e have another tragedy. We’ve lost another young person to gun violence.”
