One Dead, Three Wounded in Unintentional Shootings
In Augusta, Georgia, a 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after he found a loaded gun and shot himself in the head. The boy’s mother, 35-year-old Brittany Ryans, has been charged with cruelty to children, and another son, 19-year-old Ladarion Ryans, is at large and wanted in connection to the incident. Both adults were inside the home when the incident occurred. Ryans started to head out the door leaving his firearm unsecured, when the 4-year-old found it and shot himself.
In the second hunting related death this weekend in Lancaster, Kentucky, 26-year-old Benjamin Brogle Jr. was hunting with family when his weapon accidentally fired, killing him. Walking through dense brush may have contributed to the accident.
A 43-year-old woman and a 45-year old man were injured when Thomas Fronina, 37, discharged a gun in a Hamburg, Pennsylvania restaurant. Fronina took out a .38 caliber pistol to show another patron and fired a single round toward the floor. The round struck the woman in the lower leg and the man was struck in the ankle by a bullet fragment. Fronina has been charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure.
